The concession, located north of the Offin River and lying about 9km east of the Asankrangwa gold belt of Ghana, falls within latitude 6o 01’ 00”N and 6o 08’ 50”N and Longitude 1o 49’ 29”W and 1o 58’ 05”W. The closest operating mines in the area is the Perseus Gold mine (formerly Ayanfuri Mine) located about 6km south of the of the Nimbreso concession, and the legendary Obuasi Gold Mine, 30 kilometers to the northeast.
In 2006 Realistic Mining, the previous owner was granted a reconnaissance license by the Minister for Land, Forestry and Mines to carry out mineral exploration on the Nimbreso Concession. The concession which covers an approximate area of 70.89sq.km comprises Area “A” (33.72sq. km.) and Area “B” (37.17 sq. km.). The Nimbreso Concession falls within the Amansie West district of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
day of December 2010, Volta Resources entered into an agreement in which Realistic elected to a sale of its 100% interest in the Nimbreso Licence to Volta Resources. The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, on March 20th, 2013 approved the Deed of Transfer of the Nimbreso Concession to Volta Resources Limited.
